Essentially, the site went down due to a series of unfortunate circumstances. What many didn't know was that for the past few months, iKiller (our main coder and site owner), had developed a serious medical condition which rendered him unable to use a computer or view a screen for more than 6 hours a week. His days of coding and indeed torrenting seemed dismal but he tried as best as he could to hang on, while we searched for a suitable replacement. What eventually caused the site's demise was a server failure which wiped all our data. iKiller had kept backup data on a VPS, but due to his limited time he could spend on computers, he was not as connected as before, and little did he know, the VPS experienced technical failures as well. And thus befell CN: the site.

I specifically mentioned "the site", because what many do not seem to realize is that CN, is really a spirited vision and dream that I had, which was the premise of why CN was created in the first place. "CN", as I see it, was not actually the physical site, but rather the idea of a tracker, which focused on bringing unprecedented features and innovation, to create an experience for users that was unique.

So while the site as you know CN has gone down, my dream and vision has not. It is therefore with great enthusiasm that I announce, I intend to continue the dream at PTFiles. Now what is PTFiles some of you will invariably ponder? PTFiles, represents an early CN, in terms of its vision and potential, developed by their excellent coder PDQ, whom I had a previous relationship with, which involved her joining CN as a coder, albeit a brief time. Personally, I would say the only other site that most impressed me in terms of vision and features, has been PTFiles. Sharing this common goal and vision, the only natural choice to continue my ideas was PTFiles.

At the heart of this message, is a shout out to all previous CN members, who loved the special features, community and experience of CN, to once again rally together and converge at the new home for the CN spirit. I intend fully to bring the best features and aspects of CN to PTfiles, and through this symbiosis, transform the entity and spirit of the tracker into something that surpasses both PTfiles and CN in form and function.

With you CN members back together, I will essentially have all the tools available for that success. I will not pretend that the path towards greatness will encompass some time and effort, but through a collective effort, the most important fact would be that it is possible. If CN has proven anything, its that innovation and foresight isn't simply a pipe dream, but a solid reality.
